Ride the GOAT or put faith in the young guns? The Breakout Live team debates which of the four remaining quarterbacks can be trusted the most to carry his team to victory this coming Sunday.
This is quite a collection of quarterbacks heading into the conference championships. You can’t really complain about any of them. One is the league MVP, two are future Hall of Famers, and the other is a 24 year-old coming off a 32-TD season with nearly 5,000 yards. Not a bad bunch.
But come on. If one of those quarterbacks is named Tom Brady, it’s not even a question for me. This is a man who has led his team to a staggering eight Super Bowls and counting and is now playing in his unheard-of eighth straight conference championship. To me, Brady is the GOAT, and there’s not much debate. I’ll ride that horse until he’s retired to pasture.

I’m going with Drew Brees because of the remaining four quarterbacks, the one I trust the least (by a mile) is Jared Goff. Brady vs. Mahomes II could go either way, but Brees already got Goff once in the Super Dome with playoff seeding on the line, and I think Goff is the one quarterback of the four who is likely to have a meltdown with a trip to the Super Bowl in Atlanta on the line.
It almost feels like cheating to say Tom Brady, but it’s Brady. He put on a clinic against a tough Chargers defense last weekend, and he still looks as good as he did a decade ago – if not better. Eventually his body will have something to say about things, but it sure doesn’t look like that will happen anytime soon. He’s one of the most experienced, most intelligent and most competitive quarterbacks of all time. I’d roll into battle with Brady any day of the week.

To me this is no choice at all. The only name you can pick is Tom Brady. His resume is simply untouchable. 8 Conference Championships and 5 Super Bowl rings. Add to that Brady’s unprecedented career numbers of 28 playoff wins (Joe Montana is #2 with 16) and Tom’s 72 playoff touchdown passes (Montana is #2 here as well with 45), and you get a sum that equals the Greatest of All Time.
